Brown County receives new residential treatment program

The new Brown County residential treatment program in Green Bay, Wisconsin is scheduled to open its doors this weekend after 18 months of construction, reports the Green Bay Press-Gazette. The new facility, which replaces the old mental health center, is an 110,000-square-foot community treatment center that includes a 63-bed nursing home, a 35-bed psychiatric hospital and an outpatient clinic that can take up to 125 patients daily.

Project Manager Nate Curell had the idea to create a home-like atmosphere inviting both residents and visitors. The nursing home portion of the facility offers three residential treatment centers that are each divided into households. According to the article, patients arriving to the psychiatric hospital are admitted through a hidden entrance with tighter security. This wing looks more like a traditional hospital with suicide-proof elements and exterior fencing.

As the final solution to the aging mental health center, the new facility will open its doors this weekend. It is located at 3150 Gershwin Drive on the city’s far northeast side.
