SAT test preparation worth the money
As high school seniors and juniors get ready for their college entrance exams in the months ahead, many parents wonder if tutoring services are worth the big bucks. According to a new survey, SAT diagnostic test tutoring is worth every penny. Test preparation can add about 30 points on the SAT and one point on the ACT, according to a recent survey by the National Association for College Admission Counseling, reports the Kansas City Star. While this is much lower than some companies claim, some college admissions experts agree that even small gains can dramatically increase a student’s chances of admission or increase a scholarship offer.
SAT prep tutoring is beneficial for all students, and especially for those who are simply not disciplined enough to study on their own.
“Ultimately, what the courses and tutors provide is the structure and forced discipline that some students need to sit down at an assigned time each week and prepare,” said David Burke, head of college placement at Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City.
Tutoring services can also offer other benefits, such as college admission essay help as well as school work help.
