Needing to Find Teacup Maltese Puppies for Sale

My mother had to have her dog put down last week and we are hoping to find some teacup Maltese puppies for sale to replace it. She had her last dog for 18 years and misses it terribly. My brothers and I are willing to share the expense of buying a new one for her. She lives in a one-bedroom apartment so cannot have a big dog. Luckily she is on the bottom floor so it is easy for her to get out for walks.

I am in Oregon, so am hoping to find Maltese puppies for sale in CA or OR. I do not want to travel far to pick one up and will not have one sent on an airplane or train. My mother is in CA, so it would not be too far to travel if we found one there. I do not care whether it is male or female as it will not be bred. My biggest concern is that the puppy is young and healthy. I want one that has had its first shots and been to the vet.
I know many people are afraid to get purebred dogs because of all the inbreeding that goes on, but I think that any AKC Maltese for sale will have been properly bred. When they are registered it shows the lineage, so it is hard to hide inbreeding. My mother may consider taking it to some shows, so it will have to be papered. She used to show her dog every couple of years, but was not a fanatic about it.
